The market is dangerous only for those who do not respect it. A person who trades without rules, without position sizing, without emotional control, and without stop-loss can certainly destroy his account. But that kind of person is not following the path of real trading. He is simply participating in financial recklessness. A properly trained trader does not behave in this manner. He knows that no single trade is important enough to risk his entire future.
 

This is exactly why I say that a successful trader never loses everything, because he understands one important truth: stop-loss is his only true friend in the market. Many people look at stop-loss as an obstacle. They think it prevents profit. In reality, stop-loss protects the trader from disaster. It keeps one wrong trade from becoming a fatal trade. जवाब – इस सवाल पर मेरा जवाब एकदम साफ़ है: नहीं — ऐसा तब तक नहीं होगा, जब तक कि ट्रेडर सचमुच में प्रशिक्षित और अनुशासित हो। एक गंभीर ट्रेडर बाज़ार में इस इरादे से कदम नहीं रखता कि वह अपना सब कुछ दाँव पर लगा देगा। वह बाज़ार में इस इरादे से आता है कि वह जोखिम को इतनी सावधानी से संभालेगा कि मुनाफ़े से पहले हमेशा उसका टिके रहना (survival) ज़रूरी होगा। जुआरी और ट्रेडर के बीच यही पहला फ़र्क है। जुआरी पैसे के पीछे भागता है। ट्रेडर अपनी पूँजी की रक्षा करता है।
 

बाज़ार सिर्फ़ उन्हीं लोगों के लिए ख़तरनाक होता है, जो इसका सम्मान नहीं करते। जो व्यक्ति बिना किसी नियम के, बिना सही 'पोजीशन साइज़िंग' के, बिना अपनी भावनाओं पर काबू रखे और बिना 'स्टॉप-लॉस' के ट्रेडिंग करता है, वह निश्चित रूप से अपना खाता (account) तबाह कर सकता है। लेकिन ऐसा व्यक्ति असल ट्रेडिंग के रास्ते पर नहीं चल रहा होता। वह तो बस आर्थिक रूप से लापरवाही कर रहा होता है। एक ठीक से प्रशिक्षित ट्रेडर ऐसा बर्ताव कभी नहीं करता। वह जानता है कि कोई भी एक ट्रेड इतना ज़रूरी नहीं होता कि उसके लिए अपना पूरा भविष्य ही दाँव पर लगा दिया जाए।
